Welcome! I am so glad you stopped by. I’m Sherri, Birmingham’s own whirling dervish. That is the best way to describe the many facets of my life and keeping up with them all. I was born and bred in Alabama and have fallen in love with Birmingham where I currently reside. I grew up outside Montgomery, moved to Montgomery for a while after high school, then moved to Birmingham for a few years, Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. after that, and have recently moved back home to Birmingham.

I am utterly, unequivocally and undeniably in love with Birmingham and all her history, as well as her future. I stay involved in the community by volunteering with Sidewalk Film Festival, FoodBlogSouth, Birmingham Artwalk, Paint the Town Red,  Theatre Downtown, and helping raise money for or contributing to the Crisis Center, Jones Valley Teaching Farm, Save the Lyric Foundation, WBHM, Human Rights Campaign, Equality Alabama, The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham, and Birmingham Aids Outreach. I am a member of the Young Professionals of Birmingham, Friends of the Birmingham Public Library, sit on the Board of Directors for Theatre Downtown, and am a contributing writer – and huge fan – of Magic City Post.

I hope to create the position of “Ambassador of Birmingham” or akin one day. I want the entire world to know about our great city and the food, culture, events, past history and history being made. Jetsetter.com recently named Birmingham in their Hit List of destinations for 2013. What more can I say? Maybe the mayor or a city council member is reading this and deems it appropriate to pen a legislative resolution establishing my new title. You never know. As for my professional background, I am the Director of IT for an amazing advertising agency located in downtown Birmingham. If you need computer or network support, I’m your gal.

This site is currently where my blog lives, under ‘yougotrossed’. My last name is Ross and yes, I turned myself into a verb. And you, dear reader, just got rossed. I hope you enjoyed it. My mission statement is a work in progress, much like myself, and you can find it below:

Yougotrossed is a blog about the great loves of my life with the main focus on Birmingham, Alabama. It will be used primarily to educate readers about the city and promote Birmingham’s various offerings including geographical, cultural, historical, and current events. This will be a space for fostering community involvement. It will also encompass the other loves of my life including fitness, feminism, writing, self-improvement, and volunteering.

I will be adding more content and pages to the site in the future including information on Birmingham Dance Walk – my newest adventure and Birmingham’s latest fitness fun, professional highlights, social event calendar, information on the Birmingham Bash as it develops, and other various projects.
